Privacy Policy
A short, plain-language description of what Nomada collects, what we don't, and what stays on your device. We're a small operation — there's not much to declare.
Last updated: May 3, 2026
The short version
Nomada doesn’t require an account, doesn’t embed third-party trackers, and doesn’t sell ads through real-time bidding networks. The data your tools save (visa-tracker entries, packing checklist progress, gym logs) lives in your browser’s localStorage— on your device, not our servers. If we add privacy-respecting analytics later (Plausible), it’s cookie-less and aggregate-only. That’s the whole picture.
Who we are
Nomada (nomada.tools) is operated by an independent founder, with a US LLC being formed in Wyoming. For privacy questions or data requests, email privacy@nomada.tools.
What we collect, and from whom
Visitors browsing the site
Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs basic request information needed to deliver the site reliably — IP address, user-agent, requested URL, response code, and approximate region. Vercel retains this in operational logs per their privacy policy. We do not use these logs for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond keeping the site running.
People using our tools
Native tools persist your input in your browser’s localStorage. That data never leaves your device and we cannot read it. Specifically:
- Visa Day Tracker — your trip entries, exits, and chosen reference date
- Packing Checklist — your trip profile and which items are checked off
- Workspace Logbook — your café/coworking entries
- FIRE Calculator — your input numbers
- Climate Finder — your saved month and preferences
To delete this data, clear your browser’s site data for nomada.tools, or use any “reset” controls inside the tool itself.
Newsletter subscribers (when launched)
The header CTA “Get the newsletter” is a placeholder while we finalize a provider. Once live, the form will ask for your email and require a double opt-in confirmation click. The email and minimal metadata (signup timestamp, IP for spam prevention) will be stored with the newsletter provider. You can unsubscribe at any time via a link in every email.
Visitors clicking affiliate links
Our directory pages contain affiliate links. When you click one, the destination partner’s privacy practices apply — typically a referral cookie attributing you to Nomada for the duration of their attribution window. We don’t see who you are; we only see (later, in aggregate) whether referrals from us converted.
What we don’t collect
- No user accounts (no password, no profile data)
- No advertising IDs, no ad-network cookies, no real-time bidding
- No fingerprinting, no session-replay tools
- No location data beyond Vercel’s region-from-IP for routing
- No social-media tracking pixels (Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)
- No Google Analytics
Optional analytics
If we enable analytics post-launch, we’ll use Plausible Analytics, which is cookie-less, GDPR-compliant out of the box, and aggregates pageview counts without storing personal data or building visitor profiles. Plausible doesn’t use IP addresses to identify visitors; instead it generates a daily-rotating hash from User-Agent + IP for the sole purpose of counting unique visitors per 24 hours. The hash is unrecoverable and discarded daily.
At time of writing, analytics are off by default and only activate when the NEXT_PUBLIC_PLAUSIBLE_DOMAIN environment variable is set on the deployment. When we flip the switch, this page will be updated to reflect that.
Cookies
Nomada itself does not set first-party cookies. Vercel may set technical cookies for routing and load-balancing. If you click an affiliate link, the destination site may set cookies under their own domain. We don’t share cookie data with anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, similar laws elsewhere) you have rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal data a service holds about you. Because Nomada doesn’t hold any account-bound personal data today, the practical effect of most of these rights is limited — but if you have any concerns, email privacy@nomada.toolsand we’ll respond within 30 days.
For local-device data (the localStorage stored by our tools): clear it yourself in the browser.
Children
Nomada is built for adults relocating internationally or working remotely. The service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email privacy@nomada.toolsand we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change anything material — adding analytics, launching the newsletter, integrating new partners with their own data practices — we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top and add an entry to the changelog. Substantive changes that affect existing newsletter subscribers will trigger an email notification.
