Field notes
Genuinely cheap, genuinely beautiful, genuinely intense. Gueliz (the new town) is where most nomads base; the medina is for stays where you want full immersion. Morocco doesn't have a formal nomad visa, but tourist visas are 90 days and renewable.
Summer (June–September) is genuinely brutal — 40°C+ regularly in July–August, with hot dry winds. The shoulders (March–May, October–November) are spectacular: warm dry days, cool nights, almost no rain. Winter is mild (12–14°C) and bright.
