Premium Residency

Typical max stay

No DNV. Premium Residency is a high-investment / qualifying-talent track. 90-day eVisa available for ~50 nationalities for short stays. Cultural-rule navigation is meaningful relative to Gulf neighbors.

Editorial summary, not legal advice. Verify with the relevant consulate before applying — visa programs change with little notice.

Field notes

Saudi Arabia's interior capital — Olaya, Diplomatic Quarter (DQ), and King Abdullah Financial District are the typical expat anchors. The country has no DNV — long-stay nomads either route through Premium Residency (a high-investment / qualifying-talent track launched 2019) or use the 90-day eVisa for short stays. The 2030 Vision push has rapidly liberalized the social-rule landscape (cinemas reopened 2018, gender mixing relaxed, tourist visas opened 2019), but expectations around dress and public behavior remain stricter than the Gulf neighbors. Summer (May–September) is brutally hot, regularly 45°C+.

Hot desert (Arabian interior) — the most extreme climate on this list. Summers (May–September) are genuinely brutal — July averages 37°C with peaks routinely above 45°C and humidity dropping into single digits. Winters (December–February) are pleasant, with daytime highs around 20°C and cool nights that can drop near freezing. Rainfall is virtually nonexistent — annual totals under 100mm, mostly in November–March short bursts. Sandstorms are a structural feature in spring. AC is essential year-round; outdoor work is genuinely impossible May–September.
