Field notes

Semi-arid (Anatolian highland) — at 1,000m altitude on the central Anatolian plateau. Winter (December–February, 0–2°C average) brings snow accumulation that produces dramatic snow-on-fairy-chimney landscapes. Summer (June–August, 20–23°C average) is dry and warm. Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are the cleanest shoulder windows for hot-air-balloon flights. UV is strong at altitude.
