Field notes

Tropical north-coast — meaningfully drier than Kingston on the south coast (the Blue Mountains create a rain-shadow effect over the north shore). Dry season (December–April) is the postcard working window with bright sun and trade-wind cooling. Wet season (May–November) brings afternoon thunderstorms and overlaps hurricane season; Jamaica's central position in the Caribbean means direct hits average every 8–10 years. Late summer humidity peaks above 78%. Sea-water temperatures stay swimmable year-round (26–29°C).
