Field notes

Smaller, quieter Gulf-of-Thailand island just north of Ko Samui — population around 17,000 outside Full Moon Party season. Sri Thanu and Hin Kong (the western coast) are the surf-and-yoga long-stay zones; Haad Rin (the southeastern point) is the party-tourism strip. Same Thai DTV. The structural draws are deep yoga-and-wellness infrastructure (more Vinyasa studios per capita than almost anywhere on the planet) and surf-friendly western coast in the dry season.

Editorial estimates. Not financial advice. The 4% rule is a planning anchor, not a guarantee — sequence-of-returns risk and tax-jurisdiction friction (US-LLC / FEIE / state residency) can move the real number meaningfully. See our expat tax directory for the cross-border side of the math.
