Field notes
Meaningfully cheaper than Tokyo with much of the same infrastructure. Umeda and Nakazakichō are the typical nomad anchors. Same Japanese DNV applies as Tokyo. Food culture (takoyaki, kushikatsu, okonomiyaki) is its own draw.
Same humid-subtropical pattern as Tokyo, slightly milder winters. Cherry blossom season (late March–early April) and autumn foliage (October–November) are the peaks. Rainy season (June–July) and humid summer are the worst windows.
